Creative Wellness for Future Teachers

Rutgers Future Teachers Association (FTA), in collaboration with the Graduate School of Education (GSE), proposes a wellness series for future teachers. During phase three of the GSE program, students participate in full-time student teaching, taking on responsibilities such as lesson planning, teaching, collaborating with cooperating teachers, and reflecting on their future classroom practices. While this experience is rewarding, it can also be demanding. To recognize students’ hard work and growth, FTA and the GSE will host a teacher clipboard painting event during a fall professional development day. GSE phase three student teaching interns will have an opportunity to relax, unwind, and reflect on their experiences. A select number of FTA members will also attend to connect with current GSE students and faculty while decorating clipboards and celebrating the semester. This wellness series aims to support students’ social and emotional well-being while strengthening connections across the Rutgers and GSE communities.
