SUMMARY:Introduction to Spinning for Graduate Students
DESCRIPTION:This introductory class is perfect for a low-impact indoor workout\, where you can learn the basics and go at your own pace! \nSPINNING is a non-impact\, individually paced \, stationary bike-based cardio workout. In this beginner friendly class\, the instructor will explain the basics of spinning and teach you to adjust your bike to a proper and comfortable fit. Spinning allows the participant to control the tension and speed to a comfortable level. The cycle studio is a private classroom located at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center. There are 25 bikes available. Class will be structured as follows: 5 minutes of bike set up\, 10 minutes warm up\, 20-minute ride\, and a 10-minute cool down and stretch. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers and bring a water bottle. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class to claim your bike. Schommer Astronomical Observatory on Rutgers’ Busch Campus. \nPublic open viewing nights are scheduled for the second\, third and fourth Thursdays of each month\, weather permitting. Free admission! \nObserving will be canceled for that night if the skies are cloudy at the beginning of the observing session. Please check this web-site for the most up-to-date information. https://observatory.rutgers.edu/ \nNaked-eye visibility of satellites from the Robert A. Schommer Astronomical Observatory may be found at the Heavens-Above Main Page . \nMore details on location: The Robert A. Schommer Astronomical Observatory is located in the dome on the roof of the Serin Physics Laboratories on the corner of Frelinghuysen Road and Allison Road on the Busch Campus of Rutgers\, the State University of New Jersey. Our address is 136 Frelinghuysen Road\, Piscataway\, NJ and directions to our building are available. The public can park in lot 53 (between the building and the street) or lot 53A (about one block east on the other side of Frelinghuysen Road)\, but should obtain an electronic permit beforehand. To obtain the permit\, follow this link. Rutgers faculty\, staff\, and students do not need to obtain an additional permit\, but should only park in lots allowed by their existing parking permits (in most cases\, this does NOT include lot 53). Join us as we venture through forests of pine and cypress stands on a relaxing hike with little to no elevation change. Our hiking trips meet at the Cook Recreation Center and include transportation to/from the trailhead on a fully guided experience with our outdoor staff as they facilitate the hike. DESCRIPTION:Join RUPD for an entry-level assault defense course that requires no previous martial arts training. We will discuss situational awareness and the impact awareness has on you and a potential assailant. Since physical force is a last resort\, we will discuss alternative means to de-escalate a situation\, either by confronting an attacker or by diffusing it. Once a situation becomes physical\, the goal is to get away from the threat as quickly and efficiently as possible.
