SUMMARY:Introduction to Spinning for Graduate Students
DESCRIPTION:This introductory class is perfect for a low-impact indoor workout\, where you can learn the basics and go at your own pace! \nSPINNING is a non-impact\, individually paced \, stationary bike-based cardio workout. In this beginner friendly class\, the instructor will explain the basics of spinning and teach you to adjust your bike to a proper and comfortable fit. Spinning allows the participant to control the tension and speed to a comfortable level. The cycle studio is a private classroom located at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center. There are 25 bikes available. Class will be structured as follows: 5 minutes of bike set up\, 10 minutes warm up\, 20-minute ride\, and a 10-minute cool down and stretch. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers and bring a water bottle. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class to claim your bike. Bikes will be made available to participants on standby 5 minutes before the start of class. \nRegistration is required. DESCRIPTION:We are assessing interest in a mental health first aid certification program\, and we need your help in determining interest and a date/time that works best for graduate and post-doc students! Please read the class description below and complete this form to help us choose a time that works best for all! \nRSVP via the Interest Registration Form \nBuild Skills That Matter: Mental Health First Aid Certification \nGraduate Students and Post-Docs interested in professional development and mental health education are invited to participate in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – Higher Education\, a free\, in-person training designed for the college community. This 8-hour course teaches participants how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges and substance use concerns\, offer initial support\, and connect others to appropriate campus\, local\, and national resources. Participants will receive a Mental Health First Aid certification valid for three years\, building practical leadership\, communication\, and crisis-response skills that support both professional development and personal well-being. This training is designed for graduate students at all levels and in all disciplines who want to build skills in mental health awareness\, communication\, and support. No clinical background or prior training is needed. Facilitated by Rutgers Student Health staff. DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute walking tour is an informative and fun way to get familiar with the surrounding New Brunswick city neighborhoods and gain an understanding of the city’s history\, cultural assets\, and major institutions. Frequent stops are made in front of city murals\, parks\, local institutions\, and restaurants. Stop by the Graduate Student Lounge during drop in hours (first Wednesday of the month\, from 2pm to 4pm) to meet Nychey Michel\, Sr. Disability Services Coordinator\, and find out more. Snacks\, sensory toys\, and crafts while supplies last!
