SUMMARY:Championing Mental Health at Work: Suicidality
DESCRIPTION:Over the past few years\, many employers have increased their efforts to address mental illness and its impact at work. While this is a big step toward improving workplace mental health\, there is still a lot more that needs to be done. We should never stop considering how to reduce shame and stigma at work\, especially around mental health diagnoses and unique needs they may pose for individuals. \nJoin this Lyra Health Gathering to either voice or listen to ways that co-workers can advocate for mental health at work and support each other on the journey toward a healthier self. \nRegistration link / event website:\nhttps://rutgers.lyrahealth.com/secure/index/essentials/events/championing-mental-health-at-work-suicidality?from=Events

SUMMARY:Suicide Prevention in the Workplace: Noticing and Responding to Co-workers in Distress
DESCRIPTION:Suicide is a leading cause of death among working-aged individuals. Research shows that suicide prevention efforts—including identifying and assisting those at risk\, responding effectively to those in crisis\, and ensuring access to effective mental health treatment—must be widespread and include the workplace. The good news? Employers and employees can play a powerful role in suicide prevention. This online workshop will help you recognize warning signs for suicide and emotional distress and walk you through action steps to take to express concern and connect your colleague to the appropriate level of support. Many of us spend more waking hours interacting with co-workers than we do with friends or family members. Let’s work together to bring suicide out of the shadows by learning how to respond confidently\, compassionately\, and effectively to a co-worker in crisis. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the access provided\, please contact Carolyn Dellatore\, Assistant Vice President of Workplace Culture\, at cdellato@hr.rutgers.edu\, in advance of your participation. \nVIRTUAL EVENT.
